Marco Romoli è nato a Firenze il 16 ottobre 1961.
Ha conseguito la laurea cum lode in Fisica presso l'Università degli Studi di Firenze il 20 gennaio 1987.
Nel 1992 ha conseguito il titolo di Dottore di Ricerca in Astronomia presso l'Università degli Studi di Firenze.
Dal 1998 al 2018 è stato Ricercatore presso il Dip. di Fisica e Astronomia dell'Univ. degli Studi di Firenze
Dal 2018 è Professore Associato presso lo stesso Dipartimento.
